July 2, 2010 - Brush Fire - Bristol Borough

A train moving Northbound through the Rt. 13 corridor spread sparks all along the brush areas paralleling the tracks through Bensalem, Bristol Township and Bristol Borough. Township companies were first alerted with GoodWill Hose Company Volunteers alerted shortly after. Engine 52-1 along with all Borough Companies responded to numerous fires along the tracks. Optimal brush fire conditions along with summer temperatures made for fast spreading blazes. Volunteers contained the numerous fires within 45 minutes. Thanks to the actions of the firefighters no fire spread to any adjacent structures.

Our members worked the counters and helped prepare ice cream as well as other duties. It was a great success and brought awareness of our full volunteer status to the community.
